Interesting stat from Belgian Fest, Day One

Casey Hard, Max's cellarmaster, Saturday morning:  "We only kicked about thirty kegs yesterday [Friday], but we went through ten times more bottles than last year's Friday."

The bottle selection was truly outstanding this year, and I noticed a LOT of folks buying Cantillon stuff (which seems to be harder and harder to find all the time). Also, Max's bottle prices are really pretty reasonable, at least for a bar. I brought a buddy of mine from Oregon up on Sunday and he was just amazed by the selection. He's in town for a convention in DC, and had been to Churchkey a few times the past couple of nights. He mentioned that he noticed several beers on the bottle list at Max's that he'd also seen at Churchkey, but that Max's prices were MUCH cheaper (in some instances he pointed to beers that were nearly double the price at Churchkey).

Truly an outstanding event...
